Computer-Based Mine Design Laboratory

This state of the art laboratory educates students in computer aided mine design. The purpose of the facility is to expose students to the use and potential of computers to facilitate the engineering of better mining facilities, as well as promoting advanced graduate research in computer aided mine design. The facility was established as an educational based laboratory to promote the vast potential of computers to improve the technological base of mining.

Some of the mining engineering and underground construction related softwares used by the faculty and students are:

MineSigth3D, Ver. 3.5 (MinTec Inc.)

Belt Analyst II (Overland Conveyor Company Inc.)

VNetPC (MVS)

FLAC2D and 3D (HCItasca)

Phases2D (Rock Engineering)

AutoCAD (autodesk)
